STEAM
"I bent the foil and then I had made a boat!
It floated and even stayed floating when some marbles were in the boat."
We can proudly say that all subjects linked to STEAM have embedded themselves into the ethos of our school. The aim continues to be to develop excellence and innovation of the STEAM subjects within Buryfields,
This involves us as a school throwing ourselves into ensuring that every child has the opportunity for investigating, designing, making, creating, dancing and playing all within science, technology, engineering, the arts and maths as a focus.
We are lucky as a school to have external ambassadors involve themselves by helping in our workshops as well as our dedicated parents and staff.
STEAM within Buryfields is enabling all the excitement to occur through mixed year group workshops and involving members of the community in the excitement of our investigating and creating to solve problems and develop techniques!
STEAM
Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths.
We use our enrichment activities and weekly planning revolving around these subjects to maintain their high profile within the school. We continue to develop relationships with voluntary ambassadors, such as Virgin who have run workshops in line with our planning. We also engage professional experts to lead inspiring skills based lessons across the year groups, as well as developing training to staff. These workshops are integral to our children’s learning journeys. Parents, RAF and other experienced adults within the village visit our school to help our children in practical activities and this enables our whole school community to work as one.
We know these experiences impact all children and especially those that are disadvantaged.
Pooling knowledge and skills across the school and wider community, enables STEAM to continue to be embedded within our school. Throughout our topics we continue to build on our staff skill set to provide the best possible learning experience for our children.
