Buryfields' Parents and Carers

At Buryfields we constantly seek ways in which we can foster and improve the vital relationship we have with you, the children's prime educators.  To this end, we are constantly seeking ways in which we can involve you in their school education.  We hold two parent consultation evenings - one in the autumn term and one in the spring term.  At the end of the summer term you will receive a written report on your child's attainment and progress, after which you are very welcome to make an appointment for a consultation should you have further questions or need for discussion.  We have an 'open door policy', by which we mean that we are always happy to talk about how your child is getting on - academically, personally or socially - outside of the formal consultation times.  Should you wish to speak to your child's class teacher or with me, please make an appointment with the office team or with us directly.  If you have a concern or niggle about something, we would strongly encourage you to talk to us as soon as possible in order that we can reassure you or address the issue quickly.  If you require duplicate copies of any school correspondence or communications, please let one of the office team know.

There are many other times in the year that we invite parents into school, such as for celebration assemblies when your child is up for an award, for plays and special assemblies. We also invite parents into school at the end of each topic to celebrate what has been learned and to take part in the learning through craft, games or simply to come in and see what the children have been up to.

Parent helpers are also always welcome in the classroom! Reception parents we suggest come in from after Christmas to ensure that the children are fully settled into school.  We welcome regular help such as at a set time each week, or more ad hoc help - a half hour here and there to hear children read is much appreciated. The safety of the children being paramount, we ask that all volunteers are DBS checked; if you would like to help in school, please speak with one of the office team for the DBS application pack.

The school produces a newsletter every other week and a link to the website is texted to parents on the day of publication. If you would like a paper copy, please speak with a member of the office team.

If you have any other ways in which we might further involve parents, please do come and speak with me! I am on the gate in the mornings or you can make an appointment via the office team.
