What we do if your child isn't in school

Children are expected to come into school between 8.40 a.m. and 8.50 a.m.  If a child arrives after 8.50 a.m. we ask parents and carers to bring them into school via the front office to be signed in.

If a child is unwell, or is not going to be at school (due to visiting another school, or due to a doctor or dentist appointment) we ask that parents call the school at the earliest opportunity to let us know.  The office hours are 8.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. but you are always able to leave a message on the answering system outside of these hours.

If a child is not in school by 9.00 a.m. and we have not been informed of their absence by one of their parents, we will send a text to the 'Priority 1' parent listed on our system, asking them to call the school to explain why their child is not in school.

If we have not heard from either parent by 9.30 a.m. we will call the 'Priority 1' parent, followed by the 'Priority 2' parent and any other contacts that we have for the child should nobody answer.

If we have not heard from either parent by 12 p.m., two members of staff will visit the family home to try and speak with one or both parents.

If we have safeguarding concerns about the child or the family we will contact the police and/or children's services directly.
