Phonics Screening 2023
All children in Year 1 take part in a phonics screening check. If a child does not meet the threshold, or who did not take the test when they were in Year 1, they are expected to be retested in Year 2.

Year 2 Teacher Assessment Outcomes 2023
At Buryfields we have high expectations of the children but also approach their learning on an individual basis - no cohort of children are ever the same! Whilst we use the standardised maths and reading tests in accordance with the requirements set by the Department for Education to help inform our assessments, the final judgement is done by 'teacher assessment', i.e. the teacher uses all of the information they know about each child and the work that they have done throughout Year 2 to assess whether they are below, at or exceeding age related expectations. We are absolutely stringent in our assessments and moderate with other schools to ensure that our assessments are fair and accurate.
Below are our results for the children leaving KS1 at the end of July 2023 compared with county and national averages.

Year 2 SEND Outcomes 2023 (7 pupils)
In 2023 outcomes for children on the SEND register were in line with county and national averages, but mostly were above. As a school we work hard to ensure that teaching and learning is adapted to meet the needs of individuals; some children required significant adaptations to the curriculum in order for them to make progress. As with all our children, we have high aspirations for what our pupils can achieve and our results last year are testament to the scaffolding and challenge that they received.
There is no national or local authority data with which to compare outcomes for service pupils.
