Eligibility
There are four categories of Pupil Premium:
1. Children who are registered, or who have been registered at any point in the last six years, for ‘Targeted Free School Meals’ (Targeted FSM). This is always slightly confusing for infant aged children who all receive school meals for free as part of the Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) programme. In basic terms, children may be eligible to be on the FSM register if they are in receipt of Universal Credits or from a low-income household. To find out if you are eligible please contact Helen Ellis in the school office or click here. Whilst children in infant school receive a free meal anyway, there are additional benefits (see below) so if you think you might qualify please do check.
2. Children who are looked after by local authorities, referred to as looked after children. Funding for these children will be managed by the Virtual School and do not form part of our Pupil Premium Strategy.
3. Children who have previously been in Local Authority or other state care, whether in England or not, referred to as previously looked after children.
4. Children from a military family. More information about who is eligible for this can be found here.
Schools receive additional funding for each child registered for Pupil Premium, so please do check if you think your child is eligible.
Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium on the needs that they have identified; how we are currently spending our PP allocation can be found below. As mentioned within the plan, at Buryfields we offer children who are looked after, post looked after or who are registered as 'Targeted' on the FSM register one free school club per half term. Places for clubs are offered first to children in receipt of CLA, PLCA or FSM PP to ensure that they are able to secure a place at a club of their choice.
Further information about how Service Pupils are supported and celebrated at Buryfields can be found within our Service families pages.
